Engineering Manager

<p><strong>The job in short</strong></p> <p><span>In this key leadership position, where you will lead a best-in-class, functional team of</span> <span>software engineers. Along with leading and growing the team, you define and promote the</span><span> team’s ways of working, hiring, and training strategies. </span></p> <p><strong>Meet the job</strong></p> <p><span>Together with Operations, you will work to create and facilitate an environment in which</span> <span>each individual improves both their soft and strong engineering/consulting skills. You are</span> <span>responsible for creating the conditions in which the development teams can deliver features</span> <span>that meet the high expectations of our customers. You will manage up to 3 functional</span> <span>teams of software engineers and develop high-level strategic plans for those teams to</span> <span>ensure they are set up for success with the right competencies and energized team</span> <span>dynamics. On a day-to-day basis, you work closely with your team to surface any</span> <span>anti-pattern or dysfunction that impacts the team’s performance and ensure the team works</span> <span>towards solving those.</span><span> </span></p> <p><span>It is up to you to make sure that your teams are </span><span>balanced and deliver software that meets the expectations of our customers while taking all the non-functionals like security, performance, maintainability, and reliability into account</span><span>. You need to be able to answer</span> <span>technical questions, train and manage your team while working with various other</span> <span>departments.</span><span> </span></p> <p><span>You have a strong ability to persuade, inspire and motivate others. You easily navigate</span> <span>stakeholders across Backbase, from 1-to-1s with members of your team to working directly</span> <span>with senior leadership.</span><span> </span></p> <p><strong>How about you</strong></p> <ul> <li><span>Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field;</span></li> <li><span>5+ years of engineering experience;</span></li> <li><span>2+ years of people management experience;</span></li> <li><span>You have the leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team;</span></li> <li><span>You have an analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving</span> <span>various complex problems;</span></li> <li><span>You have the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback;</span></li> <li><span>You can make decisions quickly;</span></li> <li><span>You understand and have experience with Agile methodology; </span></li> <li><span>You have excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).</span></li> </ul> <p><strong>Tech Stack Reference</strong><br/>You are expected to have a good understanding of the below technical stack:</p> <ul> <li>J2EE</li> <li>Spring framework</li> <li>Microservices</li> <li>Cloud Native app development</li> <li>DevOps</li> <li>Security Testing</li> </ul>
