This role serves as a senior technical contributor responsible for architecting scalable AI-enabled software solutions, establishing engineering standards and reusable frameworks, and mentoring development teams on applied AI best practices. The position combines advanced software engineering expertise with practical experience delivering AI-powered products into production environments. The Senior AI Software Developer collaborates closely with product, design, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable AI capabilities that drive operational efficiency, automation, and innovation.<h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul><li>Lead the architecture, development, testing, deployment, and optimization of AI-powered applications, intelligent workflows, APIs, and user-facing features integrated into enterprise and customer-facing solutions. 30%</li> <li>Design and implement scalable AI application frameworks, reusable components, prompt patterns, orchestration services, and agent-based systems that improve development efficiency, maintainability, reliability, and consistency across platforms. 20%</li> <li>Partner with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX/design, engineering, and business stakeholders, to translate business requirements and user needs into practical AI-enabled solutions and enhanced digital experiences. 15%</li> <li>Establish and promote engineering standards, architectural patterns, governance practices, and secure development methodologies for AI-assisted software development, including responsible AI usage, prompt management, monitoring, and risk mitigation. 15%</li> <li>Evaluate, integrate, and optimize AI models, APIs, orchestration frameworks, and emerging technologies while balancing scalability, performance, cost, reliability, maintainability, and business value. 10%</li> <li>Mentor and guide software developers and technical teams on advanced software engineering practices, AI engineering techniques, evaluation methodologies, and production support strategies to strengthen organizational AI capabilities. 10%</li></ul><h2>KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)</h2> <ul><li>Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in designing, developing, deploying, and supporting AI-powered applications and enterprise software solutions in production environments, including large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), agent-based systems, embeddings, vector databases, and AI orchestration frameworks. </li> <li>Strong software engineering and system architecture expertise, including full-stack application development, API design, schema-driven development, distributed systems, microservices, enterprise integration patterns, cloud-native architectures, and scalable deployment strategies. </li> <li>High proficiency in modern programming languages, frameworks, and development technologies, including TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Node.js, React, Angular, and related software development tools and platforms. </li> <li>Demonstrated ability to design and implement reusable frameworks, shared services, automation components, engineering standards, and scalable development practices that improve application reliability, maintainability, performance, and operational efficiency. </li> <li>Knowledge of AI governance, security, monitoring, evaluation methodologies, and production support practices, including observability, performance optimization, prompt injection defense, hallucination mitigation, fallback strategies, and responsible AI implementation. </li> <li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication, mentoring, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively in Agile development environments, influence technical direction, explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, and support organizational capability development. </li></ul><h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field Required</li> <li>Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Preferred</li> <li>7+ years software development experience Required</li> <li>2+ years experience focused on applied AI, machine learning, large language models (LLMs), or intelligent automation solutions Preferred</li> </ul><h2>Compensation and Benefits</h2> <p><em>Candidates may be required to satisfy additional job-related requirements, including those established and controlled by third parties, as part of the selection process.</em><br/><em> </em><br/><em>In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $116,080 - $188,630. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
